Nevada Property Tax Reform Initiative Continuing Saga!
As I told you, those who want to steal your money never stop. The NEA has a war chest of over $20 million from teachers dues set aside to defeat any attempt to limit their unfettered ability to spend your money. The Wall Street Journal said it correctly in their August 5, 2008 article entitled, "Extracurricular Politics". "It's a shame the NEA doesn't spend as much money and effort trying to improve lousy schools as it does trying to keep taxes high." Read the saga below
Sharron Angle, Chair of We the People Nevada announced that signatures have been submitted in all 17 counties with enough verified signatures to qualify it for the November ballot. However, as I told you before, the crooked politicians don't want to deal with responsible spending. So now, as expected, one straw man group challenged whether the signatures were "properly" gathered. First legal battle was in front of the Nevada Supreme Court on July 1, 2008. The Supreme court ruled in our favor and has directed the Secretary of State to have all the signatures we submitted counted and verified. This was a major achievement! Then the Nevada State Teachers Union have alleged "technical" defect in how the petitions were notarized. We prevailed over the Teachers Union (NEA) and once again the petition validity was agreed acceptable by the Secretary of State. The statement by the Secretary of State; "After careful consideration of the allegations contained within a complaint submitted August 1, 2008 on behalf of the Nevada State Education Association and examination of the petitions in question, this office finds no evidence the verification conducted by the county clerks/registrars, The Property Tax Reform Initiative for Nevada is deemed sufficient." That should have been the end of the matter but on September 8th a hearing on a new law suit brought by the teacher's union was heard in front of Judge, who failed to mention his wife was a 27 year employee of the Washoe County School District. The judge upheld the NSEA's allegations that the petition ciculartor's notary affidavit contained "flaws". This does not come as a shock... it is just another example of how these socialist/communist groups will do anything to take your money to advance their agenda.
